Fashion of speaking English
A sample quoted from "Toronto Star" C10, Monday, November 25, 2002.
NBA team Washington Wizards led by the richest sport super star in the world, Michael Jordan, 39 years of age, became the first team to lost to the weakest team Memphis Grizzlies, which never won a game in this NBA season until beating Michael Jordan last Saturday.
Being asked for the opinion by the reporters, afterward, MJ complained with some of his young teammates not to start to play up to their capabilities.
He finally said: "If we can do it without me on the court, you won't hear nothing from me."

I should have let both you not to respond so quick, so that others can try guessing. One from Britain, another from America, it's of course common for you guys:-)
I find some English learners like to pursue fashion of speaking English but regardless the bad practice and grammar. The saying above is quite common and popular in America. This is so-called American English("Street English" in strict speaking). That's why those speaking British English, like 猫依让忍, don't know what it is, but it's understood by iceaxe :-) Even so, English learners in America are not recommended to use such street English. If you do so in your exam, you must fail.
Wrongdoing repeating thousands times and being accepted becomes right. |
