A new climbing movie: Touching the Void

This book received rare ensuthiasm in the climbing community. The movie is said to be very true to the original book and might just be the most realistic and greatest climbing movies made to date. It's a small production film and will only be showing in selected theatres. Any of you guys in UK or NYC has watched it? Looks like it's coming to California in Feb. I'll see if I can get a ticket to watch it.

前几天死活回不了贴，说我没有这个权限，呵呵。

它在英国的首映是去年在英格兰湖区举办的登山电影节。很多世界著名的登山家参加了预映，留下了精彩的评价。对真正的登山者来说《垂直极限》、《Cliffhanger》，是扣人心铉的优秀电影。然而，不无遗憾的是，毕竟是艺术，掺杂了虚构和艺术的再创作。而《Touch the Void》则是一部忠于原作事实基础上，再现那惊心动魄场面的文献性影片。与前两部相比，它更多的表现了技术性。人们可以在里面看到八字结、双鱼人结、ATC、冰镐、救生方式等的运用和那种环境中的内心活动。影片在拍摄他们攀上顶峰后的场景时，采用了航拍，配上音乐的渲染，展现给观众的是一幅白雪皑皑的群山之巅，一曲壮美的诗篇。然而，故事从这里才刚刚开始――围绕着下撤时遇险的每一个环节。生命，是辉煌的代价……。

众多的世界著名登山家参与了这部影片的制作。影片的一开始 Joe Simpson 的声音切入画面：“我们攀登了，因为那是我们的热爱。”直至结束，Joe的声音仍然在耳边萦绕：“That moment when no-one answered my call...I lost something...I lost me.”

我在想，准确翻译这部片名相当不易。它的含义不是字面上的，而是内心的；是内心里遗失自我之后的空空荡荡。

出了影院，我就在附近的书店买了本原著。

I hope you were just trying to be nice... Most of my friends couldn't stand those two movies. To be fair, they did serve some purpose to bring outstanding views of the mountains to the general public but the story line and all the climbing scenes were just unbearablly fake to the eyes of any climbers.
